CNC Router

A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Router is a computer-controlled cutting machine used for cutting various hard materials, such as wood, composites, aluminum, steel, plastics, and foams. CNC routers can perform the tasks of many carpentry shop machines such as the panel saw, the spindle moulder, and the boring machine. They can also cut mortises and tenons. 

Tool paths are controlled via computer numerical control. The CNC reads the G-code generated by the accompanying Vcarve software to determine where and how to make each cut. 

The MiL has three CNC Routers:

  • Aspire
  • Adobe Illustrator

Files are either imported or created in the dedicated Vcarve software.
