About Mr. Love

Mr. Love was born and educated in Dallas, Texas. Upon graduating high school, he attended a military school for two years before transferring to University of Texas, Austin where he earned a BFA with a major in broadcasting.

Mr. Love worked as a commercial radio and television broadcaster with the properties owned by Lyndon and Ladybird Johnson for 13 years. He then joined a group of Austin business people and opened Austin's second television station where he served as general manager for seven years. He later sold his interest in the broadcasting property and joined a healthcare system specializing in the treatment of addictions.

Fifteen years after leaving broadcasting, Mr. Love retied from healthcare work, returned to school and earned a Master of Arts degree form Texas State University-San Marcos. His field of study focused on speech communication.

For the past ten years, Mr. Love has taught as an adjunct at ACC-Austin, Central Texas College - Killeen, Blinn College - Brenham, Texas Lutheran University - Seguin, Temple College - Taylor, St. Edward's University - Austin; and for the past 10 years he has served on the faculty of Texas State University-San Marcos. His course experience includes public speaking, small group communication, introduction to speech, and business and professional speaking.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Love has trained counselors around Texas and the Southwest who have specific interest in compulsive gambling.

He lives in Elgin, Texas with his wife, Joyce.

Sample of Courses Taught

COMM 1310 Fundamentals of Human Communication
A first course in Communication Studies. Study aims at understanding fundamentals of oral communication, and how they are integrated into interpersonal, small group, and presentational speaking contexts.

COMM 2330 Small Group Communication
A study of communication in the small group, including analysis of the influence of group structure, teambuilding, norms, roles, leadership and climate on group process. Special emphasis on problem- solving discussion. Prerequisite: COMM 1310.

COMM 2338 Public Speaking
This course helps the student to develop personal speaking skills and introduces principles of contemporary types of speeches. Prerequisite: COMM 1310.
