About Dr. Beebe

Dr. Beebe is the author and co-author of eleven books, several book chapters, and has published in several national and international communication journals. He has also made more than 100 presentations at regional, national, and international conferences. He has been a visiting scholar at both Oxford and Cambridge universities and is a member of the Common Room of Wolfson College, Oxford University. He was named Outstanding Communication Professor in America by the National Speaker’s Association, and has received the President’s Award of Excellence in Research and the President's Award for Excellence in Service at Texas State. Dr. Beebe serves as the department’s chair and is Associate Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication.

COMM 2315 An Introduction to Interpersonal Communication
(3-0) This course helps the student to develop personal speaking skills and introduces principles of contemporary types of speeches. Prerequisite: COMM 1310

COMM 2330 Small Group Communication
(3-0) A study of communication in small groups, including analysis of the influence of group structure, teambuilding, norms, rolls, leadership, and climate on group processes. Prerequisite: COMM 1310.

COMM 2338 Public Speaking
(3-0) This course helps the student to develop personal speaking skills and introduces principles of contemporary types of speeches. Prerequisite: COMM 1310.

COMM 3318D Communication Training & Human Resource Development

COMM 5329A Communication Training and Development
Examines the theory and practice of developing and presenting communication training sessions for organizations. Prerequisite: COMM 5319 or permission of instructor

COMM 5347 Seminar in Small Group Communication. (3-0)
An examination of theories and research evidence about communication in the small group.
