The College is comprised of 2 schools—Music, and Journalism and Mass Communication, and 3 departments—Art & Design, Communication Studies, and Theatre & Dance.
The College of Fine Arts and Communication offers three undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Arts (BA), the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), and the Bachelor of Music (BM). Students may pursue master’s programs in Communication Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication, Music, and Theatre. The Art/Design Department now offers the College’s first “terminal” degree – the M.F.A. in Communication Design.
In addition to the college’s formal degree programs, students have the opportunity to pursue a number of co-curricular activities available to all Texas State students. Some of these activities include acting, marching band, a wide variety of music ensembles, debate and forensics, art exhibits, lectures and workshops, production work at the campus radio station KTSW, and the student newspaper The University Star.
