Any graduate level courses taken are included in GPA calculation. Please go to the Graduate College website for information regarding transcript requirements.

(1) Written communication skills
(2) Goals align with what the MFA program offers
(3) Past student and professional experience
(4) Awards

Letters of recommendation:
Three letters of recommendation from persons capable of evaluating the applicant’s academic and professional ability.

(1) Ideation/design/presentation
(2) Role and scope of work
(3) Peer-review (state, regional, national, or international)

Leveling
Our leveling program is designed for those who have strong application materials, but who may lack some communication design skills. Acceptance to the leveling program is on a case-by-case basis. Leveling students are conditionally accepted into the MFA program, are required to take four graduate leveling courses, two in the fall and two in the spring, and earn no grade less than a “B” in each course. Leveling courses do not earn credit towards the MFA Communication Design degree.
