Galleries I & II are located within the School of Art & Design at Texas State University – San Marcos. These sister spaces – with their 18’ ceilings and atrium lobby – provide over 3,000 square feet of museum quality exhibition space. The galleries, which are used separately for individual exhibitions and in tandem for combined exhibitions, will be host to a total of 16 varied exhibitions throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. In addition to this ambitious schedule, the galleries continue to take a leading role in fostering discourse among artists, art & design professionals, and students by hosting a number of visiting artist’s lectures and workshops throughout the academic year.
The Art & Design galleries and Visiting Artist Program are an integral part of the learning process for students, as well as a source of enrichment for the entire University and local community. While providing exhibitions that would not otherwise be readily available in the area, Galleries I & II enhance the academic environment by showing the work of prominent artists with established exhibition records, working in a wide range of media and styles as well as annual exhibitions by faculty, students, and alumni.
