The Texas State University Student Chapter of the National Art Education Association is open to membership by students who intend to become art teachers. Dates and times of meetings are determined each semester and membership may be on a semester-by-semester basis.
Meetings for the spring semester, 2012, will be held the first and third Monday each month from 4 - 4:45 p.m. in JCM 1113. Topics and activities for the meetings are as follows.
Feb. 6 – Japanese stab book binding
Feb. 20 – marker on yupo
March 5 – gelatin prints
March 19 – using art centers and writing grants
April 2 – sharing lesson plans
April 16 – Preparing students for V.A.S.E. and UIL
Membership fee is $5 per semester.
Whether or not students join the Student Chapter, they are strongly urged to join both the National Art Education Association and the Texas Art Education Association. Students also are urged to attend the annual conference of TAEA, held in various Texas cities each November.
