We become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams.
The ever-accelerating advance of technology is bringing down borders and transforming our world into a global community—a diverse community in need of a common language. Art has always been an influential voice, and today the potential for the communicative power of art is greater than ever. Today’s world needs the visual arts.
At Texas State University, we strive to educate our students to not only master traditional media and skills of art and design, but also to think, research and problem-solve. This rich combination approach provides a strong foundation for mastery and equips students to communicate a personal vision or a client’s vision. The faculty of the School of Art and Design aim for our graduates not only to make significant contributions to the world of art and design but also to take leadership roles within their communities.
Our facilities provide students with state of the art resources. This, coupled with the excellence of our nationally and internationally recognized faculty, allows us to offer our more than 1,300 majors outstanding academic curricula and a broad scope of professional expertise. The School of Art and Design offers undergraduate degrees in Art Education, Art History, Communication Design, Photography and Studio Art, as well as a terminating graduate degree in Communication Design.
In addition, our school plays an important role in the cultural and artistic life of both campus and regional communities. I invite you to contact us to arrange a visit. We will be happy to discuss our programs and your degree options. Michael Niblett Director, Department of Art & Design Texas State University.
